Meet Our New Radiance Mask

Meet Our New Radiance Mask

Our NEW Jojoba & Enzyme Radiance Mask offers a chemical exfoliation for the skin - but is all-natural. So how does this work?

The mask is a gel-textured face mask that uses plant-derived acids AHAs and BHA to clean out excess oil and remove a build-up of dead skin within the skin's layers (a process known as chemical exfoliation).

So what are AHAs and BHA, and what do they do for the skin?

What are AHAs and BHA?

The Jojoba & Enzyme Radiance Mask features 7 fruit enzymes, which all work together to exfoliate dead skin and encourage a brighter complexion:

AHAs

AHAs are water-soluble acids that cannot penetrate the skin, so instead, they work to slough away surface-level dead skin.

Glycolic Acids

Glycolic acids help to stimulate cell turnover, tighten pores and accelerate the process of dead skin sloughing.

  1. Papaya Extract has exfoliating properties that remove dead skin and in turn, brighten the skin.
  2. Kale Extract detoxifies the skin, tightens pores, increases cell turnover and fights free radicals.
  3. Sugar Cane accelerates the process of dead skin sloughing and surface exfoliation.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is an effective exfoliant that encourages cell turnover and evens out skin tone, all while holding moisture.

Bilberry aids in the exfoliation process and helps keep moisture in the skin

Citric Acids

Citric acids help eliminate irritating impurities by stopping them from entering the skin

Lemon Essential Oil, and

Orange Fruit Extract both eliminate impurities like air, water and heavy metals, by grabbing onto them

Tartaric & Malic Acid

Sugar Maple aids in ceramide stimulation and gentle exfoliation of the skin

To help add a deeper level of exfoliation, we’ve also incorporated a naturally-derived BHA into our mask.

BHA

BHA on the other hand are oil-soluble acids, so they penetrate deeper into the pores, removing excess dead skin, oil and sebum.

BHA’s are especially good to use on oily, acne-prone skin types, as it helps remove extra oil that builds up and causes acne.

Salicylic Acid

Derived from White Willow Bark, Salicylic Acid deeply cleans excess oil out of the pores and flushes out impurities

What is chemical exfoliation?

One of the keys to achieving bright, glass-like skin is incorporating chemical exfoliants into your skincare routine. But wait! How can chemicals be good for your skin?

While the word ‘chemical’ is in the name, ‘chemical exfoliation’ doesn't mean that a product contains chemicals.

Chemical exfoliation refers to the process of AHAs and BHA breaking down the sugars in the skin to cause the cells of the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin) to loosen and slough away.

This is different to physical exfoliation, which refers to the process of physically exfoliating the skin with texture particles like microbeads.

Exfoliating your face and body regularly will help with cell turnover and removing dead skin from the surface. Exfoliation helps to reveal brighter skin underneath, which is especially beneficial for those who have fine lines, pigmentation, scars and uneven skin tone.

Our mask is clinically-proven to:

  • Be more efficacious than common synthetic AHAs in skin renewal vs irritation*
  • Speed up skin cell renewal rate to 16 days**

By revealing healthier skin, this mask also promotes better absorption of the other active ingredients in your skincare routine.

How to Use Radiance Mask

In your skincare routine, use this mask after cleansing and before using a toner and other skincare products like serums and oils.

Apply the mask to clean, dry skin and leave on for 7-10 minutes for a deep exfoliation. Rinse off with water when finished

Things to remember:

  • You may notice some slight tingling or redness - especially if you're new to AHAs. No need to worry, the redness should subside within 30 minutes.
  • If you use retinol or vitamin C in your skincare routine, it’s best to avoid using AHAs on the same day as the active ingredients can overstimulate the skin and cause adverse reactions.
  • You have to be careful with any kind of product that works to resurface your skin. Using too many acid exfoliants on the skin can cause more harm than good.

How often can I use the Jojoba & Enzyme Radiance Mask?

If you’ve never used AHAs before: Go slow! Start with once a week and monitor how your skin reacts. It might need time to warm up!

If you’re a young skintellect: If your skin is comfortable with using active ingredients, try and apply the mask every other day!

If you have mature skin: Mature skin needs extra exfoliating as our skin slows down its cell turnover as we age. Aim to apply the mask 2-3 times a week on alternating days.

If you have sensitive skin: Patch test the mask to see how it reacts. A little bit of tingling is fine, it just means the AHAs are working their magic!
